Adult Children of Seniors

Get Peace of Mind

Helping your parents or an older adult through a life change is tough.  Who you decide to work with is important.  When selecting someone consider these questions:

  • What do my parents need?
  • What companies can help my parents?
  • What type of person will work best with my parents?
  • Is there a deadline?
  • Do I want to or am I able to assist?
  • Are my parents mentally and/or physically able to handle change?
  • What is their budget?

These questions are difficult to answer. We suggest you think about these questions as you search for the right people to help your parents.  We have organizers specifically trained to work with seniors. We encourage you to call us and gauge your comfort level with the first phone call. Let us help you find solutions. Solutions that consider your parents mental state and disposition. We understand that relationships get complicated as your parents lose thier focus. The pressure and your parent's anger is directed toward the process of organizing and potentially the organizer but away from you.

When dealing with your parent lifestyle change, we hope that you will be involved in whatever capicity you are able to give. We can work on a consultation basis and offer guidance on any situation requiring organization or we can manage the entire process for you. We will have as much or little involvement as you want. We can provide recommendations for outside services or we can arrange for those services ourselves.  By providing flexiblity, this allows you to control the cost of the project.

Frequently Asked Questions:

My parents are difficult to deal with, are you willing to help?

Yes, Lisa Smith is trained to work with seniors who are struggling.  She is patient and kind.  She listens and will acknowledge your parents frustrations, sadness and anger.  She moves at their pace in an effort to minimize overwhelming them with change.  Quite simply, she understand how to work with seniors.

My parents have recently passed away, can you help me deal with their possessions

Yes, most likely you will need to eliminate all the stuff that remains in their home.  There are several approaches to consider depending on how much organizing you want to do, how much you want to keep and if you want sell their stuff or give it away.  The first step is to develop a basic plan then the organizing can start.

My parents aren't ready to move, shouldn't I wait until it's time?

No, we love to work with older adults before they move.  Even 1, 5 or 10 years before they move.  This gives us a chance to deal with their possessions as they wish. Everyone's stress is signficantly reduced when the organizing is spread over a period of time.  This allows your parents to get settled with the process and start to face the prospect of moving to some type of assisted living.

My parents don't have much money, how can they afford your services?

Our services are by appointment.  With older adults, appointments usually last 2-4 hours at a time. There is no financial committment beyond scheduling an appointment. They can have as many or few appointments as they wish.  By controlling the number of appointments, they control the costs so they know what to expect.

I want to be informed of everything, how will you communicate with me?

We will communicate in any manner you choose:  e-mail, written, texted, etc.  We'll communicate as much and often as you like.

I just want my parents stuff to be dealt with, are you able to work with them on your own?

Yes, your parents may prefer this option.  As caregiver, your relationship can become strained.  As a third party, we help relieve your stress by working directly with your parents.  You are free to participate as much as you desire.  You don't have to be there.  Although, if possible, we like for you to be there at the first appointment so that we can discuss what needs to done accurately.
